The 'boom' of artificial intelligence permeates everything at the DES 2023 in Malaga [1648]

The talks of the international digital transformation forum end up sliding towards the gravitational pole of generative AI.

Entrepreneurs and heads of innovation from large companies waiting disciplinedly in long queues, as if it were the entrance to a nightclub, to listen to their referents talk about artificial intelligence. In all its formats: leadership in times of AI, big tech in the face of the AI boom, the path that AI will take this year, the latest advances in this field according to. This Tuesday and Wednesday at the Digital Enterprise Show (DES) held at the Palacio de Ferias y Congresos de Málaga, AI permeates everything.

"You have to go from being mere users and consumers to creators of value", proposed the IBM data scientist María Ríos, in the paper 'Making generative AI to suit you', in which she assured that the challenge "is not to generate the best model", but rather the one best adapted to the needs of each client.

In this talk, the great American technology company has shared its new WatsonX platform, with which they have encouraged entrepreneurs to create "your own generative AI tailoring workshop."

"GPT Chat has become an ababsoluteute reference, but perhaps it is not the ababsoluteute solutionution for everyone. Does this mean that we should stop using it? No, but we do understand what it is for," Ríos reasoned: "The models are not specialized The good news is that we will be able to adapt them."

A few hours later, on the other side of DES, freelance developerer Adrián Tineo highlighted how the lack of a learning curve and friction had popularized the use of generative AI to the point it is today. His presentation went further, on how to start a business project based on these technologies, and whether to do it using the tools of large multinationals or with others developeded in open source.

Tineo concluded with five recommendations for startups that develop solutionsutions based on artificial intelligence: do not delay because there is a lot to learn, focus on the problem and not on the technology, start with the easy, optimize aggressively when you have already found a gap in the market and be flexible before all the possible romps that are to come.

Under the slogan Next is now ("The following is now"), the forum proposes different paths of specialization according to occupations within the company or its sector; but in the end, almost inevitably, the talks end up sliding towards the gravitational pole of generative artificial intelligence. Or conversely, they seek to attract audiences with big titles that mention AI and then return to the main theme of the presentation. All this, in an event that continues to have its own attendees and the synergies that are created between them its greatest value.

Even Juanma Moreno has taken advantage of the inauguration of the DES to announce that she will approve the Andalusian Artificial Intelligence Strategy on June 20. Its objective is that it be at the same time "a roadmap to extend technology, to take advantage of each and every one of the resources" without implying "an impairment of freedoms, jobs or development"ment".

According to data provided by the organization, this forum was expected to receive some 16,000 attendees, a couple of thousand more than the 2022 edition. That year, the first in which it was held in the capital of the
Costa del Sol of the five agreed by the City Council, former United States President Barack Obama was the main claim.

In both cases, the figures were still far from what the DES achieved in Madrid: the last edition prior to the pandemic, in 2019, achieved 26,342 visitors and was confirmed as the main counterweight in the country to the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona in terms of international technology event Now, he aspires to stay in that position from Malaga... and with the open debate on artificial intelligence as an ally. And there's still Thursday.
