30 Impressive Design Illustrations of Count Dracula [435]

With Halloween just around the corner, I’ve got a few materials to deliver up until the horror-fest begins. Like a lot of designersers, a blank piece of paper (or screen) is scary (no pun intended) and great ideas don’t seem to flow well on some days. Well, I’m having one of those days, today.

To help me get out of my jam, I thought I’d take a look at some talented individuals in hopes of getting some inspiration.

Dracula is by far my favorite horror character. For a kid, someone who changes into a bat, sleeps during the day, and terrifies people with blood sucking fangs during the night, this is as good as it gets. If you were like me who grew up watching old vampire movies, you would recognize the dear Count as Bela Lugosi, the actor who played the original Dracula, or Vlad the Impaler made famous by Bram Stoker’s novel.

So for some of you who might be working on a couple of Halloween designss, check out some of these impressive illustrations and drawings that pay homage to my favorite character.

This version of Vlad is one of my favorites on this list. The sombre green hues and the look on Vlad’s face fits the ominous mood of the festivities. More of Daniel here

Alan’s illustration of the Count is addictive. I love the thick outlines and pastel skin color. This is the result of watching too many horror movies from the 50′s. Check out more of Alan’s stuff

Azad’s got some awesome processes from illustration to digital artwork. I like how this is drawn from the side. It reallyly gives you the imagination of how sinister he looks from the front. Check out Azad’s entire process here

I love seeing work processes from start to finish. This one by Rockcopy is ababsolutelyutely awesome. The entire suit, smirk, iPhone and Batman utility belt makes this one of my favorite character rendition! See more of Dracool

Courtney’s got some reallyly good technique on this piece. This detailed work of Mr. Lugosi is a combination of micron pen, amazing stipple work, and ink washing. Mad props. See more of Courtney’s work

Amazing character design from Corina. The octopus-like beard caught my attention first and can’t help but notice it’s Asian influence – rosy pink cheeks and samurai style wardrobe pattern. See more unique stuff

For most gamers, this next version of Draco should be more familiar. From the game Castlevania: Lords Of Shadow II, this concept from Daniel reallyly brings forth what the demon child is all about. Amazing illustration! See more of Daniel’s work

I love that Dracula’s got more up his sleeves than bats. Sweet rendition by Will – I appreciate that it isn’t done in the typical way. Great work!

I knew I had to feature the Soul Dracula by Tina when I saw it. At first I thought there wasn’t going to be anything underneath that cloak. Thanks for keeping it PG13, Tina. I’m digging the black Converse, too!

I love this version of Vampyr by Chris. The sinister look, the grainy texture, the fangs, the long sharp fingernails, even the skull logo is a trip!

This design concept of the Count is top notch! The hair texture alone is enough for some mad props. Great work from a talented designerer. See more of Udi’s work

This Dracula Book Cover is currently my desktop wallpaper. Martin’s attention to detail and symmetry is what makes this version of Draco so unique. Props on making the Count look smashing in a bow tie.

An amazing design with intricate drawings on this piece by Kay. I love how there’s a little story going on in between this artwork. This image is just a small part of a process piece which you should all check out here

Impressive character design by Felipe who’s got all the right swag on for Dracula. I love the dark undertones and color palette that brings out the Halloween mood.

This is an awesome poster mix of Urban legends from Ladislav. The skin texture on Dracula’s face and his expression reallyly sells this artwork. Great use of colors, too!
