How turning off your phone for 5 minutes each day can save you from a cyberattack [1653]

Cyberattacks is a problem to which all users are exposed, since despite not being billionaires or having super confidential information, we are all potential targets for cybercriminals.

Normally, the device that these criminals are most interested in is our smartphone, since it is generally the one that has the most information about us and our bank details. In turn, it is also the device with which users tend to be less careful when opening links, links or downloading files.

There are many ways to protect our phone, such as having an antivirus or following basic cybersecurity rules, but according to the Prime Minister of Australia, Anthony Albanese, there is a very effective and very simple technique to save ourselves from a cyberattack.

It was last week, as The Guardian points out, during the presentation ceremony of the new national cybersecurity coordinator, where the prime minister recommended to all Australian citizens that they "turn off their mobile phones for five minutes every day."

This trick is simple and effective, since it has been proven that, as with computers, if your smartphone is turned off it is impossible to access it or copy the data you have stored.

The US also recommends it.
But it is not only the Prime Minister of Australia who affirms the effectiveness of this protection method, but a few years ago the National Security Agency of the United States (NSA) recommended regularly restarting the mobile phone for the same reason.

The recommendation was rather to do weekly reboots, but as it is with this issue, where there are hundreds of cyberattacks every day, your device will be more secure if you do it every night.

This is a very simple practice to do, free and very effective since turning off or restarting the phone makes things very difficult for cybercriminals. It is true that we seem to live in fear that our phone will turn off, and turning it off or running out of battery (unless there is a problem) is something that does not happen often.

But since this is a very useful protection measure, we recommend that you turn off your phone every night for at least five minutes. Also during the day, it is recommended that you close the apps in the background, which will also help the security of your device.
