Instagram prepares its own Twitter: we already know what it will be like and some of the celebrities who will launch it [1649]

Meta will have its own Twitter, created by the Instagram team. And we are already beginning to learn a large part of the details of what this new social network will be like, whose code name is Project 92 ''Barcelona''.

Through TheVerge we have access to the first screenshots of what the interface of the new Meta network will look like, a clone of
Twitter whose main feature is that it will be based on the same decentralized protocol as Mastodon.

From Mark Zuckerberg's company they are already beginning to show their employees all the details of this new application that they have been working on since the beginning of the year and whose launch is expected this summer, according to Bloomberg pointed out a few months ago.

The application will allow access to the text messages of other users, as in Twitter, although it will be the user who can select what type of algorithms and servers will be applied, as in Mastodon. This is because the application will make use of the ActivityPub protocol.

Instagram's Twitter is almost ready

P92 is the responsibility of Adam Mosseri, current CEO of Instagram, although we know some additional details through Chris Cox, director of product at Meta. He defines this application as "our response to Twitter"" and explains that the Instagram account system will be used to automatically complete the user registration data.

The final name of the application is not yet confirmed, although from TheVerge they point out that it could be called 'Threads' (threads, in Spanish).

According to users who have had access to the internal tests, the maximum limit of characters will be 500 and among the available tabs there will be the classic ones to discover characters, saved messages, a QR code to share the profile and an option for payments.

From Instagram, it is proposed to link the profiles with this new social network, through a temporary invitation link. That is, from the Instagram profile a direct access to the profile of the new application could appear.

One of Meta's strategies is to convince different celebrities to use this new social network. "We've been listening to creators and public figures who are interested in having a platform that is managed sensibly," Cox says in a clear indirect message to Elon Musk's management of Twitter.

Some of the personalities Meta has contacted are Oprah Winfrey, the Dalai Lama and DJ Slime, although taking into account the reach of
Instagram, it is not ruled out that the list is considerably more extensive.
